I acknowledge that SNFR is not perfect by any means. However it does show a good proof of concept.
Given another couple of weeks I think a really polished version could exist, but as always seems to be the case, time is lacking.

For anyone that may take up this project in the future, I'll leave my final thoughts/notes for improvement below.

Getting any form of PCB (Even a milled PCB) would do wonders for the packaging. Most of the electrical issues I ran into
were getting the protoboards to fit/rewiring.

The irises worked surprisingly well, as this really was just the first prototype of them.
Three easy things to make them work much better:
Replace the servo actuation with something like a micro geared stepper. Designing gear teeth into the iris outer ring would allow for
easier integration than the current pushrod system. Microsteppers are also a smaller form factor that would provide a greater torque.

The other easy thing to fix with the irises would be to move to a "sandwhich" three part design, over the current two.

Currently a cross section of an iris looks like this:

---  |  |  ---
  ==========

With the inner ring holding the outer ring to the ASD with a small lip.
I'd propose slicing the outer ring into two parts that would bolt together.
So a new cross section would be as follows:

---  |  |  ---
| ========== |
---        ---

This would constrain the outer and inner ring to a specified channel. With loose bolts in the iris leaves, as current, the rings can
become misaligned enough to jam the iris. Constraining the rotation path should allow smoother actuation.

I'd also propose every iris be mineral oil finished, if the FormLabs resin remains the material they're made from.
I mineral oil fininshed the last iris I made, and it actuated much better than the first two. The question remains of if I just got better
at building irises or if the mineral oil actually helped. But regardless, the mineral oil makes the parts more aesthetically pleasing.
